yup.  which is why the decontented performance cars (Porsche RS America, BMW
M3 lightweight) kept their electric windows--seems the window cranks MIGHT
interfere with the airbag so the test would have to be done again.

whoa there.  I don't think the M3 we see here is particularly wimpy.  Yes, it
gives up a few HP to the Euro model, but the motors are significantly
different--and probably for the better, in the case of the US model.  Where
the Euro M3 has a near hand-built motor (you think our Audis are bad, ask an
M5 owner about maintenance), the US M3 is a 3.0L version of the 2.5L sold
here (325/525 motor).  And its tuned more toward US driving styles (i.e.
torque comes in earlier).  AMG is a separate manufacturer in Germany, so
don't blame MB on their availability or not in the US.
