Sounds alot like when I bought my 84 coupe at auction
after it was repoed.  I had some very major vacuum leaks.
There is a little black elbow pipe near the back of the
head on top, that is prolly an egr thing.  They crack and
leak badly.  I have gotten good service, with minimal
investment, although not everything works.  So what!
You should replace all of the injector seals after you
test the injectors.  Do you know how?  Bentley shows it.
Good Luck.  You'll have it humming in no time!  I learned
alot getting that thing running, bet you will too!
