Come sit right down and you'll hear a tale, a tale of a fatefull quattro....

But I digress, oh man, you guys'll never believe what just happened to me 
on the UrQ... so I just get done putting the engine back together - brand 
new RS2 turbo, huge oil cooler, huge radiator fan and all - lower her 
down off the jack stands, start her up (she purrs like a kitten now), try 
putting her into gear, and GRRRRRRIIIIIINNNNNNNNNNNDDDDDDD!!!!!!!!  Seems 
I can't get her into reverse (or any gear for that matter) because the 
clutch won't dissengage.

Now I know what you're all thinking - problem with the clutch hydraulic 
system, right?  Well, bleeding it didn't help, so next I removed the 
clutch slave cylinder, and it checked out OK.  The clutch pedal feels 
fine, and my thinking on that is if the hydraulics were bad, the clutch 
would probably stay on the floor after being pressed down for a long 
enough period of time.

Which leads us to the next and current working theory - I think the damn 
clutch has rust welded itself onto the transmission input spline after 
sitting motionless for over a year.  Assuming this to be the case, anyone 
have any ideas on how to break her free without having to drop the 
tranny?  I already tried the old trick of starting the car in first gear 
and running her up and down the street, rapidly accelerating/decelerating 
in jerks both with the clutch in and out - didn't work.  I'm wondering 
what kind of clutch access you have (if any) if you take the starter 
motor out - anyone who had their starter out notice?

Assuming all of that doesn't work, how much of a bitch is it to drop the 
tranny on a quattro?  Sincere thanks to any and all replies, answers, or 
sympathy...
