Well, one way that I have heard (but not yet tried) is to remove the fuse for
the fuel pump, and keep cranking it until the car sputters out. This takes
(most of) the fuel out of the system, making it safe to replace the filter.
It will, of course, take a little bit of cranking to get the car started,
since the fuel pump has to fill the system with fuel and build pressure.
Anyone agree with this method? Has anyone tried this? I have thought about
doing this with my '92 100S, but just haven't gotten around to it yet. Has
anyone replaced the fuel filter on the 2.8L V6? Inquiring minds want to
know......
Regardless, always wear safety goggles! Gasoline in your eyes will definitely
ruin your day!!!
