MORE brakes!
First of all, someone asked me if the Pagid brake pads were metalic.
That I can't really answer - they are German manufactued and everything
on the box is in German. They are "asbestfrei". They ARE VERY goods
brake pads for fairly aggressive street driving. I got a complete set
for fronts for $24.95. On the end of the box it lists my "VW Passat 5
zylinder, GLI" and several other VeeDubs, but no Audis. I imagine
comparable prices could be found for the Audi version. People are
talking about how expensive it is to upgrade brakes. My German Ate
Vented discs were only $95 for a pair. Did I get a deal, or do y'all
consider $125 too much for way-confident braking? Enough of that.
Has anyone out there with a mid-eighties non-quattro 4k ever changed out
the rear brake shoes? The guy that gives me such good prices said I was
asking for trouble trying to change those out myself. He said the drums
are full of moving parts/springs. Also, why do shoes cost twice as much
as pads? Is it just because of the amount of material used? I'd really
like to hear from anyone who has done this successfully.
