the truth about temperature senders

There seems to be some confusion on the topic of temperature senders.
There are TWO temp senders on the 5 cyl. (possibly 4 and V6 also). The
one on the TOP of the coolant flange (2 pin) sends info to the fuel
injection and ignition control units. The one on the BOTTOM of the
coolant flange (3 or 4 pin) sends info to the temp gauge, temp warning
light, and cuts out the A/C compressor if engine overheats. Replacing the
BOTTOM sender is will fix your gauge problems, but will not affect engine
performance (i.e. fuel:air ratio as a function of temp., etc.).

hope this helps - Chris
