So are you saying I can go to the junk yard, pull a set of gauges off a
regular 4000, and connect them to existing sensors on my 83 QTC? That would
be wonderful!
I too had the 4000 RPM problem. I was reading the service supplement, and I
only saw a reference to the airtemp sensor (in intake) and the idle switch
(on throttle body). As I recall, if the switch is shorted, or the airtemp
info is bad, it limits the RPM to 4000. They call this mode the boost test,
or such.

Are these temp senders, or thermal switches?
