re: Annoying Engine Tapping



I really doubt that rod would fragment.  

The one thing I feel a strong urge to say is:
	IF you decide the rod should go, by all means take it out 
        yourself.  Most shops/mechanics charge a minimum labor charge, and 
        I'd hate for you to spend $30 for someone else to remove two nuts!

If you'd like a little more info on doing this, please e-mail me direct.  
I've taken mine off 4 or 5 times and I think I've found a way to quiet it 
down except for the 30 seconds or so after cold starts (with the rod left 
in).
