Well, I hate to say it but my 87 5kCSTQ had the very same symptoms for two
years running when the cold weather set in Ontario,Canada. It was at 4
different Audi dealers and the end result was the fuel distributor that I
put on myself. I have not looked back since, 16 months now. I went through
checking fuel delivery, fuel pressure and a handful of temp. sensors before
it was finally fixed.
