The catalytic converter is filled with a ceramic material and when this
breaks up clogs the converter limiting the exhaust flow AND power! I had
this happen and the car would only do 35 mph on the freeway.

I had the cat replaced with a factory one and it was about $400 but it really
ran nice after that. I did check a JC Whitney catalog and found a cat for
$80 but my mechanic told me it wouldn't work well and he wouldn't put a cheap
one on. So, the neighbor girl is getting full advantage of my offering to
the Audi gods and the car run fine today with over 240,000 miles on it.
