Re: Wierd start problems.

Dan,

For a couple of years, I have had the problem where my car won't start
after sitting between 1-4 hours after being run. It seems like if the
car is hot or cold it works fine, but if it is just warm, it gives me
problems. It always starts eventually. I have found something that
gets it to fire up. I run through the diagnostic sequence by shorting
the connection on the fuel pump relay (repeatedly, until the cold
start valve starts clicking). Once it is done clicking, I start the car
and it fires up. Sometimes I have to repeat that procedure 2 or 3 times.
I have never been stranded by this problem, but it gets damn inconvenient.
I have replaced the multi-prong temp sender, and checked the other two
temp senders on the head (water connection). I haven't checked fuel
pressure, but have considered that actuating the cold start valve gives
it some extra fuel that it needs. I also pondered the replacement of
ignition wires.
I usually only experience this when it gets colder out. So, in the summer,
it usually is fine. I do get some rough running after startup, but it
goes away quickly.

So, another data point. Any ideas???
