Cutting out

I have a 1985 Audi 100 2.3 Quattro (95K miles), which has the problem of
cutting out in town traffic in the first few miles, it is O.K. once it has done
a few miles and it has never cut out on fast roads. After it has cut out it
takes a minute or so before it will restart. The way it cuts out suggests that
it is an electrical fault i.e. sudden.

The engine runs well, it has just had an engine tune, the fuel filter has been
changed, relays and fuses have been checked and the spark plugs are O.K. Being
an intermitant fault means that is it a difficult to find.

Has anyone ever had experience of a similar fault to this? Any help would be
appreciated as one day it might happen on a fast corner or something.
