RE: VW & Audi



FWIW, VW purchased Audi in 1968 with the passing of VW's second "father," 
Heinz Nordoff. The original* Golf was based on the 1970's vintage Audi 90 
(Fox) and of course, the "VW" OHC four-banger is in fact an Audi design. 
SO... in a manner of speaking, VWs are Audis--not vice versa!

*The prototypes for what became Golf had VW's Type IV boxer up front under 
the hood.
