Sears has similar device -- the "spring" is a metal band. The contraption
works by tightening up when you turn the handle. Yes, it works but it
does need some "free play" to tighten up to begin unscrew the oil filter.
If you have really tight spot on, this thing may not work.
If the place where oil filter resides is really hard to get at, then you
should look into one of those oil filter relocater.
