Adapting 093 bellhousing to 4cyl motor

I spent some time yesterday figuring out the easiest way to adapt a Type 093
gearbox to my 4cyl. motor. Two of the bolt holes in the bellhousing line up
with ones in the block but several of the others are nowhere close. I think
the best approach will be to fabricate an adapter that mounts in between the
bellhousing and the motor from two pieces of 1/2" aluminum plate (one on the
motor side, the other on the gearbox, both of which will then bolt together)
but this means I'll also have to mount the clutch on a 1" spacer attached to
the crankshaft in order to maintain the proper spatial relationships between
everything.

The trouble is I don't know if this will work or not. I called around a bit
today and no one I spoke to had any experience with doing this ... I realize
I've probably strayed into an area that's pretty far removed from the normal
Quattro list topics of discussion (my apologies) but I would be grateful for
any input anyone might have.

BTW, the only reason I'm going to all this trouble is because the Quaife LSD
for early Porsche 944s can be made to work in this gearbox with only a minor
amount of machining and this is a necessity for my car is to be competitive.
I've scoured the world looking for an LSD that will fit the Type 013 gearbox
but had no luck ... if anyone has any leads on this, please get in touch.
