One thing that has worked great for me is wearing POLARIZED sunglasses!!! I
bought a pair of MAUI JIM'S (awesome, but expensive) and they are great!! No
glare at all, especially off the dash.

They offer no protection for the dash, though; that you still have to do
yourself with some kind of protectant... :-) 

I know that this is a radically different answer... but, hey, it works!!!
