Re: Bogus (?) Oil warning
... well I checked out the Bentley ...
Apparently the low pressure switch (0.3 bar - 4.3 PSI) is mounted to the
head somewhere ... too bad I didn't write down the color of the wire :(
The high pressure switch (1.8 bar - 26 PSI) is mounted to the oil filter
bracket. The high pressure switch is closed when the pressure is above
the set point, and the "Engine Oil Pressure Control Unit" expects the
switch to be closed whenever the engine RPM is above 2150. The low press-
ure switch is always active. Looking at the wiring diagram it appears
that the control unit is in parallel with the LP switch ... if the CU is
removed the LP switch works like most of the other cars out there ...
since it sounds like you have an oil pressure gauge, this might be the
solution. Bentley says the CU is in location 6, but it does not appear
to be on the fuse box so it is probably on the aux panel above the brake
pedal.
Bentley claims the pressure spec @ 2000 RPM when oil temp is above 80C is
a minimum of 2 bar (28.4 PSI [sic]) ... I think this really should be
29.4 PSI.
