I've been thinking about the same thing for my 4k. In this country
the prices are even higher for better stuff and the choice is fairly
limited. I spoke to a guy today who said that the ride on the
Monroes is ok (this is not in the Audi context) but suffers a
pronounced degradation in quality after 12-18 months, and probably
needs replacing after around 2 years. I don't know whether these
are the same ones you'd get over there, but the price I was given
was A$400 all round for the Monroe and A$767 for Koni
(A$1=~US$0.76), which this guy heartily recommended. There was no
Boge in the Australian catalogue for my car. He said that in taxi
cabs, the Koni lasted an average of 3-4 years, the Monroe about 6
months. Maybe a little hyperbole in action, but food for thought.

I saw something in the archives about this - at the end of 2/95
someone was going to drive someone's car fitted with Monroes to
assess them, but I don't know what the conclusion was. Can anyone
tell us? I think one of them was a Robert...
