Re: Strut source??? Monroe?!?

I would definitely go with at least BOGE Turbo Gas, I had a set of them in
my 85' 5000s which has 125,000 miles on it of which 66,000 miles were on
the BOGE. They're still as firm as brand new. BOGE Turbo Gas and Pro Gas both
have a warranty for wornout and defect to the original purchaser. I got my
back 5 1/2 years ago for $215 including tax for all 4. I paid another
$175 to have them install. They are firm but not harsh but interestingly
they feel firmer than the OEM struts on my 92' 100 which just turned
25,000 miles so they are definitely worn.

The Monroe might make the Audi bounce and float like a Caddy, just kidding :)
It gives a whole new meaning to rock and roll in a quattro :) I just can't
get over the idea of putting a set of Monroe in a nice German car. Other
brand you might want to avoid is Tokico. Koni and Bilstein are good but
they are pretty stiff, actually stiffer than BOGE Pro Gas and Turbo Gas.
Also Koni & Bilstein are quite expensive when compare to BOGE. I think the
OEM struts on 5000/200 turbo/quattro are actually BOGE Turbo Gas. The non-
turbo 5000/100 actually has either Sachs hydraulic or Boge TS/automatic
which are both plain hydraulic ones.
