Quattro Joys/Question in SNOW
Well, this is one hell of a rain/wind storm in California. Some observations:
the 200QTW does provide peace of mind with ABS and 4WD. There were at least 3
autos in ditches today on Hwy 280. Winds around 50 mph. The car was eerily
smooth. Wind just seemed to push down on it, making it feel slower but no
nasty unintended lane changes. IN other words, wonderful cross wind
stability. And hydroplaning doesn't seem to be an issue-even when
accelerating hard in standing water.
The ABS isn't totally perfect; maybe it's the tires, but it is possible to
lock up the wheels and skid. Is this normal? I imagine in heavy rain, no ABS
is absolutely perfect.
In snow, I imagine there might be a time put chains on a quattro (esp with
non-snow tires). If so, what axle would you put the chains on?
