Driver's door lock problem?

Well, the weather here is lousy -- snow on the ground, temp at 20 F and sleet
coming down like pea gravel.  Isn't that when c**p happens?

Locked my 89 100Q from the driver's side with the key, to grab a cuppa;
seemed like the turning key hung momentarily, but buttons all went down in
lock position.  Came back out into the same lousy weather half an hour later,
insert key and turn to unlock = no response, key turns freely in both
directions!  Luckily, driver's side door lock is functional, so got into the
car and drove to work.  Anyone else experience this kind of lock quirkiness?

Any thoughts?
