key-coded radio help needed

Hello all. Thank you to a couple of you who offered some
suggestions in my interest in saving some dollars and
avoiding bring my radio to by local Audi dealer to get a
new key code.

RECAP: Last week, before purchasing a new battery for my
Audi 90, I purposely changed the code on my radio so I
wouldn't have any problems getting it to work again. Either
the new code didn't take, or wen in improperly, I don't know,
but I couldn't get it back alive again during the 3 or 4
chances the radio did give me to input the proper code. Now it's
just staring at me with the SAFe message.

I did remove the radio, and as one of you suggested, put it into
my freezer overnight. Nothing. Thanks though for the possibility..
Any other ways to beat paying my dealer $45. and then "sending
it away" somewhere to get a new chip?

The whole affair seems so silly. Thanks.

Scott in Connecticut.
