SCCA 5ks

Hello all,

All this talk about the TransAm Audis brought back memmories. I saw them race
at Lime Rock. I went up on Friday for practice and the race on Sat or maybe it
was a Monday. Was it Memeorial Day or Labor Day. Someone out there knows.

I'd been hanging out in the pits checking the car out real well. Took lots of
photos of the car and drivers. Haywood was there and the other driver was Rohl.
But maybe it was Hans Stuck. I'm unsure because of what I later saw that I am
sure of. I saw and my camera caught an Audi doing a wheelie coming over the
hill. I thought Stuck was driving then. Whatever.

I'd gone to the back of the track where the cars climb the hill to the right.
John Morton had a blowover in a Nissan GTP car there once. This after the "No
Name Straight". I've been around there in street and race cars and you do feel
light at the top. Out of the corner of my eye I thought I saw air under the
front tires of the Audi. I aimed a 300mm lens to that point and waited. No
wheelie. A few more times and no wheelie. I put down the lens and saw a
wheelie! This went on for a while and I did finally get the shot. One frame.
Not pin sharp but there. It looked great. Wheels up, turned slightly right.

Also got some good panning shots with flames out the exhaust as they went into
the esses. The cars were great to watch. They took the most absurd lines
through Big Bend. Worked for them marbles or not.

I'm going to try to find all those slides.

I'm still shopping for my Q. The presspool E320 went back today and we have a
blue S6 wagon till after Christmas. Tommorrows weather report is terrible. I'm
so glad.
