New member, stuff

Hi Audi folk,

I've been reading this list now for about a week. I'm on the Merkur list and
boy are they similar. Same stuff, different car. I have a few things to add to
this list and to thank you for.

Regarding the "Euro" lights. I have set for my Xr. To install I need to change
the sheet metal behind each and under the radiator support. It wouldn't
surprise me if the Audi were no different. I've seen cars that have done it and
seen the result. Great low beams and the highs are insane. If you want the
high beams can be 100xs each and the former inner parking lights, now driving
light can also be 100ws. 400 watts total. I love it.

All this talk of 2.0bar boost. Don't the Audi gauges, is there one in the
dash?, read, I don't know how to word this but in a different value than say the
stock and HKS gauge in my Xr? So the 2.0bar you see is about 16-16lbs of boost?
If you are getting 2.0bar the way my gauges read you better get a helmet! 2.0bar
for me would be 30lbs of boost. Fast yes, but just once. I run 16-18lbs in my Xr
or 1.2bar or so. all that boost without any kind of reworking of the ignition
timing curve seems a bit risky. You can't do that in an Xr and we have knock
sensors. Talk about spoiling the fun.

So anyway I've been looking for a 200Q. I write a car story for a local weekly
paper and have had the S6 sedan and will have the S6 wagon over Xmas. I get cars
for a week. I've got the new E class now. The is a S6 great car but too much
$$$$$$. S4s are also a bit too much for me. Fall back to a '91 200Q. They are
all about 20K in my area. But after reading here about the dreaded brake
problem they may have...... Just let me say ALL Merkur owners ahve have brake
shimmy/shudder problems. All '91 200Qs have the inboard caliper? What about the
'90 200Qs. I don't want another car with that problem but the 20 valve has such
possibilities. So a '90 200Q is looking good and there are more around. I want
a four door sedan that I can get to be as quick as my Merkur. As it stands now
my Xr is quicker than the S6 but not as refined and I know you guys would laugh
at its snow capabilities despite limited slip.

I know I would want to increase the power. I don't even have a Q yet but I've
already called Ned Ritchie. A friend is a Superchip dealer so there is that
alternative. Konis, Eibachs? Here I go again!

So this group is a great find. Tips before I even buy. How can you beat it.

Thanks, I'll be around.
