Knock sensors

hers's what I have found out about knock sensors.

Bruce Bell pointed me to these guys.

They make a universal closed loop knick sensor / ignition
retard system that works for 5 cylinder motors (and others).
He suggest using the GM saturn sensor, ait has about the right
frequency. You need to weld a 10.15 bold onto a metric stud to
mount this unit to the block. You then connect it to the
control box via a harness that is probided. It can provide
up to 6 degrees of retard per ping, up to a max of 10 or 20 degrees.
The whole thing is $395. There are two displays for this unit
as well. the dual model for $140 has both a led bar graph of retard,
and an O2 sensor /mixture graph. The knock only runs $90.

I feel this is a bit steep, but you've got somebody else doing
the engineering already to bolt on. If some of you have an
interest in going in for a group buy, at a discount let me know
and I can try to negotiate it.
