Dent B Gone! A little redneck goes a long way...
Welp, last night I got rid of a good majority of the mashing I did to the TQ
last weekend. I took the bumper off, the front trim (what was left) and all
the plastic bumper mounts. Wrapped a nylon tow-strap through the front of the
car, and around the quarter panel in the wheel well. Attached another tow
strap to the bar that's in the front of the car, that forms the hole that the
duct for the oil cooler goes through. Pulled the TQ up in front of my Scout,
attached a come-along to the tow strap on the TQ and secured it to the front
tow-hook on the Scout, and started crankin'. Two hours later (in 30 degree
weather, and pouring rain) after moving the TQ a few times to get different
angles, the mash lines are all but gone. Removing the three screws in the
wheel well allowd be to separate the fender formthe inner wheel well, so I
could get up inside there to pull out the dents that the come-along hadn't
straightened. The fender had folded down & back, really distorting the wheel
well, but now ya gotta get REAL close to see the crease lines, and the fender
is almost perfectly straight again. Heh heh heh. Some clear finger nail
polish to the parts that were missing paint, which (luckily) are mostly all
out of sight behind the front bumper, so it's good enough for Government work.
Now to replace those headlights, the trim, the bumper... At least my 17's
will fit now...
