Is My Car Gassing Me?

Happy New Year, Everyone.

For the past couple weeks I've been getting a fairly strong exhaust smell
in my car (20vCoupe). I think I smell it more when the ventilation is on
(any setting).

I sometimes need to roll down the windows to keep from being ill. I think
I'm losing valuable (if only by their scarcity) brain cells.

I went to the dealer who adjusted my hatch to close completely ( so that's
what that hellishly obnoxious squeak was) and _only_ (sic, as in 'I think
I'll be _') charged me an hour's labor. I still get the smell, especially
when the car is going slow. Before I go back for another round of service,
any ideas?
