Hella lights and stuff

My post on Hella XL's seems to have piqued a few peoples interest. A very good
place for *info* about Hella's products is from their 144 page catalog, which is
available for $3 from Hella Inc, 201 Kelly Dr., Peachtree City, GA 30269 or you
can call 800-247-5924 for info. The catalog has info on Hella lights, relays,
auto trim, and some OEM replacement stuff. In the back of their general catalog
they offer a catalog for OEM replacement parts. I do not have this catalog (pn
55203) so I do not know if it contains info about Euro parts or only parts for
the US, but it does say "Lists all OEM replacement parts for Audi..." There is
no info on prices in this catalog, nor does it mention direct sales, but IMHO
more info is generally a good thing.

I can (and will) recommend APS as a source for Hella stuff. I found their
prices reasonable, their service quick, and their staff knowledgeable ("An Audi
200? You don't really have a lot of room to mount any other lights, do you?")
Catalog $5, free with purchase. Info 805-388-7171 Sales 800-423-3623.

As a disclaimer: I don't think I know anyone, anywhere, who is in a position to
give me or anyone else a break on car parts or service; except for my
brother-in-law who owns a car wash in Canton, OH. His opinion on Armor-All is
that for his purposes it sucks. Lots of full service car washes use it because
of name-brand recognition, but he feels it's too expensive and really doesn't do
much for the cars. He uses some other industrial strength stuff. He's also
against *poorly mounted* aftermarket add-ons light fog lights and stuff
(especially ladders on the backs of conversion vans) because they have a
tendency to fall off and rip up his expensive machinery.

My 3 pfennig on cleaning carpets/floor mats in cars: residual soap + wet shoes =
very slippery pedals.

ps Just because I don't get any benefits from referrals feel free to use my
name/the quattro list/european car as references. Maybe someone (maybe even
me!) can get a good deal out of it someday.
