Torsen not working?
Sounds like your Torsen may have the wrong lubricant, or it may be worn
from too much semi-slippery driving condition. This is the worst
condition for any kind of diff. When there is a huge speed difference
between the wheels, the diff has to allow this to happen, which means
that it is working harder than usual. I try to take it easy when the
road is semi-snow covered, with patches of dry pavement.
In a case where there is a huge traction differential, the Torsen
will eventually fail, and work somewhat like an open diff, but this point
is usually quite a bit higher than with a regular diff, or even an LSD.
