FWIW,

i have travelled extensively in asia and i've found that asians living
there routinely and innocently use the term "jap car" to mean absolutely
nothing else except "a car of japanese origins". 

we americans have been over conditioned by the PC police.

i absolutely deplore racism, but i also think that offence should not be
taken when none was intended.  it's that simple.

real racists are waaaay more sophisticated than simply saying "jap car". 

we will now return you to "gee, my alternator broke, how much does it
cost to fix it?"
