Can today get any worse?
As if the margin call from my broker wasn't bad enough (Motorola lost over
$10/share yesterday!), it looks like I may have totalled my '87 5k driving
to work this morning. I'm sure it can be fixed but considering book value
on the car, there's a good chance Allstate will decide to total it. Since
no one was hurt, it's only a matter of money at this point but I've really
grown to like this car (so much so, I sold the '91 100 I bought a year ago
to replace it to my father instead) and would hate to part with it... :^(
Anyway, assuming they don't total it or I decide to buy it back and fix it
anyway (if nothing else, I need to get my wheels/tires back along with all
my suspension goodies so I can install them on the next car), I think this
might be an opportunity to change the color from Almond Beige metallic aka
"Gold" to Lagos Blue at someone else's expense ... can anyone tell me what
the paint code is? I seem to recall first seeing it on an '89 200 but I'm
not sure. Was there more than one version of it used? I've got some grey
Flofit seats that I never got around to installing in the BWM I started to
restore a few years ago as well as several yards of Wilton wool carpet and
some extra fabric so redoing the interior to match shouldn't be too costly
or difficult (yeah, right...).
Of course, this project won't be as much fun as working on my race car but
at least I finally have an excuse to finish up my headlight project! :^)
