well, i'm no longer a GTI owner on the quattro list...!!!

i picked up my new A4q last saturday. here's what it's got:

"Brilliant" Black paint
Light Gray leather
quattro (of course)
cold weather package
ski sack
sport wheel

i did not get the Bose, but they were doing a search for one
with or without it. i'm kind of glad i didn't get it. the stock
radio isn't that bad (much better than i expected) and i did put
the money towards the CD changer, which i'm getting installed
next week. they did get the car from pennsylvania, so it had
about 365 miles on it. i live on the new jersey shore.

(anyone know where the original dealer is? it had a 3-letter acronym
name like YBA or something like that).

the dealer came easily to a 5% discount or so.

i drove it satturday, watched the video, read the owner's manual, and
then it started snowing. sunday at 10 we went to church in a very hilly
section of town with 6" of snow on the ground. that was a good
test and a nice introduction to quattro!

then imagine the depression i felt when i couldn't drive it
for 2 days because we had 30" of snow and the roads were basically
closed!

the car is great - the brakes take some getting used to. boy, do they
grab NOW when you touch the pedal. the car has lots of nifty features
and is quiet - although you can always hear the engine. the pedal travel
seems very long. i'm still being well-behaved with the engine
since the break-in is still in effect.

btw, the sport wheel is excellent - i had to double check to see
if the airbag was in there - it's so small. the regular wheel looks
very clunky by comparison.

anyway, i highly recommend it so far - an excellent car overall, and i
really think they're going to sell a LOT of them this year.
