easy--weight does not equal stiffness; ever ride on an aluminum framed
bicycle? with the same or less weight, they give you these oversize tubes
that makes the thing a true bone (and rump) shaker. oops--that's getting
into engineering (and beyond me) and other fancy stuff i said i wouldn't get
into.

REAL numbers that don't apply here. aren't we getting into the apples and
oranges thing again? i mean, performance car (neat mag, btw) with euro-spec
cars vs. n. american stuff--and who knows if the german-spec is the same as
the french as the uk etc?

ok...how 'bout some n. american #s? well...i have had this perverse need to
know how little my cars are really worth--just so happens the NADA Official
Used Car Guide includes the curb weight of various models (i knew this--just
hadn't thought of it before tonite). since during most of these years, most
audis came similarly configured, it's probably safe to assume delivered
weights were quite close to these numbers.

here goes the audi entries of interest to this list. there appear to be a
few errors in there, so i've used my version of common sense to make these
groups. otoh, i might add typos, too ;) if it really looks out of wack,
drop me a note. (you may want to view with fixed spacing font)
