I haven't seen a response to this--perhaps someone responded directly to
Scott--if not, here goes...

PSP A15-91-03  Hydraulic Valve Lifters--Noisy
applies to all 80/90, 100/200 from 1988-1991

The PSP is broken down to 3 sections:

A.  Check valve in oil return passage.
     For MC engines, starting with 8/87, VIN 44_JN007107
     For NF engines, starting with 5/87, VIN 44_HN120175

B.  Length of intacke valve increased 0.5mm
     For 3A (4 cyl) starting in 11/88, VIN 89_KA108480

C.  For MY 89 cars, 4 & 5 cylinder, valve lifter p/n is 034 109 309 N

PSP goes further, saying 
   "Do not replace hydraulic lifters...where vehicle has not been driven for
more than one week"

If lifters are replaced, zone office approval required (except in
Canada--hmmm) and the p/n for replacement lifters is 034 109 309 R

Then, on page two of the PSP is a note that p/n 034 109 309N has been
replaced by p/n 034 109 309 AD

So I looked on the parts fiche, and sure enough, only the AD part number is
listed.  this is the 2-1991 parts fiche for the '89-91 200 turbo/wagon
quattro, so it includes both 10v and 20v turbos, but the lifters are the
same across all motors.

'fraid there ain't a whole lot more to this one.
