No no no, the dash does have to come out on the 5k cars.  At least on the '84 -
'88 series, I did the core on my '84 a couple years ago & the dash does need to
come out.  Not to remove the core, that's all done in the engine compartment,
but simply to hook up the vents & such to the blower housing.  Been there, Done
that, got the T-Shirt.  Removing the dash wasn't fun, but I can't imagine doing
the job with the dash in place.  Or with the hood on the car, for that
matter...

Well, not sure what to tell you here, Mike. I've also BTDT,
(on my '86 5kS) and, um, er, yes it will in fact come out
with the dash (and hood!) in place. It might cost you more
in chiropractor bills than if you just paid someone else
to do it, but it is possible, and also fairly quick.

I posted a note several months ago with some tips on this
one. Should still be there...

Definately agree however, that it would be easier w/o the
dash or hood in place. Now if only I could just snap my
fingers...
