Voltage Regulator - Thanks

Thanks to all those who responded.  I finally got to fixing it today.  It was in
fact the voltage regulator.  The brushes were about 4mm and 5mm is the min.  I
called the dealer and I was told that the regulator for the 90 Amp alt. was
~$56.00 and the 110 Amp was ~$136.00.  Thank the Audi gods I have the 90 Amp.
:-)  I looked around for a better price found several places that would beat the
dealer, however, DO NOT GO TO NAPA for this part!  The only one they have listed
doesn't fit and it looks real cheap!   I did find the part at an auto electrical
shop for $46.00.
