unfortunately its really difficult (if not impossible) to damage radar 
guns. Thats what makes the original story so difficult to beleive. The 
guns have a clipping circuit which wont let the input to overload. Kinda 
like your radio in the car. It wont blow up if you're real close to the 
FM stations 50,000 watt antenna!
