just got in the mail today, dated 24 Jan 96:

    ...
    Recently the Board was informed ... that the Northwest 
    region "will not participate in any coordination for the 
    upcoming autocross event planned by the Audi Quattro Club 
    USA at Portland in March."  Because this development will 
    place the Quattro Club at a financial risk, the Board of
    Directors has decided to cancel the event.  ...

the note also mentions a November 9-10, 96 date.

personally, i am still curious about the finances behind running an
event--who's getting how much of each driver's fee?
