I have never had a problem with the A6 defroster, and I've had a carfull
in cold/rain/snow etc.  However, I noticed once last summer that the
A/C compressor stopped working after my wife started pushing a lot of buttons
arbitrarily.  It started working again after 20 mintues or so. Maybe you can 
get the system into some funny state by too much quick button pushing.  The 
system has never had a problem since.

I too notice that the wipers freeze up quickly.  A set of (covered) winter 
blades ought to fix that one.
