Just got an update from Scott. It's kinda serious. :-) He had a 'quicky' oil
change done by the local "Pro's" before leaving home; half way to Colorado the
car ran almost out of oil. Quick look, the drain plug was nice 'n loose, oil
dripping everywhere. One of the "Pro's" at the shop didn't understand the
importance of torquing drain bolts to spec... Damage to the car (according to
the Omaha Audi dealership, which Scott spoke quite highly of (NOT!!!)) was
mainly to the turbocharger, apparently the seals on the turbo are blown. He
tells me the thing looks like James Bond's Lotus, "Smoke Screen." Major oil
blow-by in the turbo. Scott's gonna buy a 55 gallon drum of oil (kidding...),
and limp the car to Denver, and have a guy in Boulder (Dave, Boulder right?)
take a look & possibly put in a new turbo. Scott's still plannin' on attending
the QCUSA at Steamboat, the PDQSHIP won't be there though... Personal
suggestion to anyone who see's him at the event: Buy him a beer, he'll need it
by then!
