I think that all automatic transmission fluid is synthetic oil.
It is more of a question of what type of synthetic fluid and
the additives that go in it. Auto transmissions are highly
stressed and have to run for 60k before changing the fluids and
other tough conditions like that.

You're right about the synthetic! But one should change the tranny fluid AND
filter every 30Kmi, and every 15Kmi under heavy-duty service. (that's what I
do)
But I think that my Caprice manual recommends even more frequent service
intervals for both service conditions...But hey, my first Chevy (granted
heavy-duty, four-bolt "truck" tranny) transmission lasted 220Kmi when the
torque converter started going on it!
