I don't remember all of the details, but at the Portland Auto Show last 
month, I was talking to one of the guys for Sunset P/Audi, and he was
telling me that it will be alot cheaper for them to pull the I5 off the 
market for a few years and then re-introduce it, than to retrofit all of 
the OBD stuff to the current design.  In short, he said to look for the 
I5 to make a big comeback in about '98!

I for one was happy to hear this.  IMO, the I5 gave the Audi's as much of 
their character, as the quattro system did.
