Rear drive shaft bearing
First of all, I'd have to agree with Brett. The caps are really annoying.
Secondly, I've got a 1988 80 Quattro and the bearing/bushing or whatever you
want to call it is in need of replacement. I checked with Audi and it is still
sold as an integral piece (that is, you buy the driveshaft with the bearing
on it and it will still cost you a cool $700+ dollars).
Uh... I don't have that kind of money just lying around, but if you are
diligent (and have at least some bucks around... unlike me) you can find this
driveshaft at some of the Audi wrecking yards around. In the back of
Car & Driver, there's an ad for an Audi Wrecking yard. I called someone
(I can't remember who, not that it really mattered since I didn't have the
bucks) and I think the price he wanted was $225.
