Under channel 1, I find the following:
Test Conditions:
fuses checked, outside temp > 38F, engine warmed, oil temp >140F
open dash vents, select Auto, set temp to 75F, ignition on, engine not
running...
Procedure:
ignition on
press and hold down outside temp display button
press and release off button - corner mark+01 fault channel is displayed
press COOLER button - 00 fault code is displayed
check each channel 01 fault display code as shown in table
(corner mark and cm means the upper verticle mark)
00 - Normal
corner mark+01 - inner temp sensor - open
corner mark+02 - inner temp sensor - shorted
corner mark+03 - outside temp sensor in air plenum chamber - open
corner mark+04 - outside temp sensor in air plenum chamber - short
cm05 - Outer temp sensor (in front of rad) - open
cm06 - Outer temp sensor - short
cm07 - motor for positioning heater flaps in programmer - not ok
cm13 - battery voltage under 9.5 V
cm14 - Hi press sensor - sensing hi press
cm15 - hi press sensor - short

>From what I see, the only way to get a 163 would be in a different fault
code than 01
For instance in channel 03, it would tell you the value of resistance in the
interior temp sensor.

Summary of fault channels:
cm01 - system faults
cm01 - not used
cm03 - int temp sensor
cm04 - outer temp plenum sensor
cm05 - outer temp rad sensor
cm06 - not used
cm07 - graphic display of control head output
cm08 - specified position of flaps
cm09 - actual position of flaps
cm10 - specified blower motor voltage
cm11 - vehicle voltage
cm12 - not used
cm13 - ambient temp switch
cm14 - not used
cm15 - automatic trans only
cm16 - engine coolant overheat switch input
cm17-20 - not used
cm21 - AC on signal
cm22 - # of low voltage occurances
cm23 - not used

Do you know how to switch channels, etc...?
