Radio ON/OFF

My new euro-Blaupunkt also has some nifty ON/OFF features:

I had to run an ignition switched line to the radio, but since the radio also
powers the CD changer I ran a heavier cable than the 0.5mm^2 factory line
anyway.

The radio will turn off with the ignition if you connect an ignition switched
wire to it. This is optional. You can however immediately turn it back on and
it will play for an hour then shut itself off as a battery saver function. I
know some of the VW's factroy radios had this feature too.

One "drawback" of the radio is its RDS traffic memory function. It enters a
"standby" mode after shutdown waiting to receive a traffic update. This standby
mode sends power to the antenna amp (can't receive without an antenna) which
shares power to the chime. In the initial install the chime always chimed
because the radio was always "on". Ten seconds with some wire cutters near the
chime "fixed" this problem.

I wrote this before reading the A4 radio info. It sounds very similar.
