Undeliverable 88 Audi 90 Help!

 I just bought an 88 90.  I'd like some people input please!  The fan doesn't
 kick on at all.  I believe it may be the thermo switch in the radiator,
 but am not sure.  Help...   I only paid 2200 for this car, in the fact that it
 needs work, but once fixed up, shall be running good.  Has anyone here resealed
 a rack on those?  I did it on a 5000 but, it was a totally different setup.  
 Any help would be appreciated.
