the biggest advantage of the v8q slushbox is the zig zag gate to allow
semi automatic operation. (nobody said that you can't do that!) that
frees up my left foot to brake at any point in the corner. the
electronics and the slush connection take care of keeping the shifts
smooth. it makes driving at the limit much easier.
the biggest disadvantage of course, is the 4 ratios and the huge
losses incurred when the convertor-coupling is not locked up.
my ideal type of transmission would be what you see in formula 1
cars... lots of ratios, clutchless, semi-automatic operation,
computers to worry about the mundane stuff, like matching
revs and overrevving and no slushbox to suck any power.
i think the only car in production with such a tranny is the
ferrari mondial...
the F1 drivers also use left foot braking...
