4000q brakes
Dear Quattrophiles-
I replacedthe front brakes on my 86 4000q last week, and am experiencing
some noise. I used Brembo rotors and MetalMaster Pads.
There is a bit of brake drag. There is not enough to effect mileage, but
enough to cause a whirring sound at low speeds. I've put about 500 miles
on them, and the noise comes and goes. There is no pulsing during
braking, so I assume there is no runout in the discs.
I did notice that the MM pads were thicker than I recall stock pads were.
The caliper pistons needed to be pushed in completely, and the pads and
calipers barely fit around the discs.
I guess I know that in time things will just wear in, and most likely
everything will be fine.
But I want to know if this has happened to other people. If you don't
have time for a full reply, a simple yes or no will suffice. I'll know
what it means.
Thanks-
Mason B
P.S. I noticed a patent notice the other day that had Audi patenting a
development of pop-up headrests for active convertible roll-over
protection (similar to the setup on the Mercedes E-class cabriolet).
