re: Warranties?
I bought my wife's 1987 5KSQ with the 12 month/12K Mi warranty. It came
from an Audi dealer who accepted it in trade (no auctions) and was great.
The warrantee covered only powertrain, no biggie. I ended up replacing the
speedo head about 3 months after we got the car, not covered, but the
dealer (Mattie, Fall River, MA) ate half of it! All in all, a great
incentive worth very little.

A while back I think I read something about Audi offering an "extended
warranty"
on used Audis if you bought from an authorized dealer and the car had
passed a
100 point inspection or something. Kind of like what Porsche does. It
doesn't
apply to me, but I have noticed a fairly sizable number of new names and or
familiar names with new cars lately and they might actually have some
incentive
to go the dealer. Any truth to this rumor?
