Andrew... My 90Q 20V had a similar noise, but was very elusive. It made 
the same noise you describe on rev down. It would up being the 
distributor itself. After replacement it went away. Take a screwdriver, 
but the HANDLE side to your ear and the blade side to the distributer and 
rev it a bit. You'll hear it real loud if thats the problem. Likewise put 
the blade on the PS pump to check that as well.  Apparently the 
Distributors had a tendancy to go away on the 20V's  :(
     
(easily repairable though!! Will post if anyone is interested!)
